Frequently Asked Questions
1. What does drop 8 mean in baseball bats?
In baseball, the term “drop” is used to describe the difference between the length of the bat and its weight. The drop is expressed as a negative number and is typically denoted on the bat itself.
A drop 8 baseball bat is a bat that has a length-to-weight ratio of -8. This means that if a bat is 32 inches long, it will weigh 24 ounces (-8 = 32 – 24). A drop 8 bat is typically used by youth and middle school players who are transitioning to a heavier bat with a smaller drop.
2. Are drop 8 bats hotter than drop 10?
While it’s true that a drop 8 bat can generate more power than a drop 10 bat, the actual increase in hitting distance may vary depending on various factors such as swing speed, bat weight, player strength, and hitting technique. Additionally, hitting a ball harder doesn’t necessarily translate to hitting it farther as the trajectory of the ball and the angle at which it is hit also play a significant role in determining the hitting distance. Overall, drop weight is just one of the many factors to consider when selecting a baseball bat.
3. When should I switch to drop 8 bats?
Yes, you are correct. Weight drops can vary in Senior League baseball depending on the age and size of the player. Generally, younger players between the ages of 7-10 tend to use a -10 weight drop bat, while players between the ages of 11-12 use a -8 weight drop. For players 13 years and older, a -5 weight drop is often recommended. However, it’s important to note that these are just recommendations and players should choose a bat that they feel comfortable swinging and can control effectively.

Pros
- This bat is very even and has great pop. A large portion of my children’s colleagues swing the Cat 8 and this bat performs directly close by then, at that point, however, DOES NOT have that boisterous ping like you get with amalgam bats. Generally, I would say this is an incredible bat up until now!!
- Has great pop right out of the covering.
- Incredible weight and equilibrium
Cons
- Endcap broke after around 10 games
- We rehearsed on a chilly day (35°) and my child took a pitch off the cap and it stung his hands quite terribly!! I wouldn’t say this is an issue similar to that temperature it could hurt with any bat!!
Suggestions
Single-piece bats will in general make a superior showing of conveying more capacity to the ball, however, they accompany hand sting issues. Most more youthful children hoping to make contact all the more reliably, appreciate the contact feel of a light swinging two-piece bat. More grounded hitters who like great input on the hands to track down the perfect balance, will in general incline toward heavier swinging single-piece bats, or if nothing else two-piece bats with extremely hardened advances.

The 2016 Easton mako torq xl is another emphasis to Easton’s 2016 MAKO principle and practices the end-stacked character of a conventional two-piece composite bat (like the 2015 Easton XL1). It additionally expands the container size by introducing the MAKO specs (same as the 2016 Easton MAKO) and adds the turning handle made popular on the 2015 Easton MAKO Torq. As far as unadulterated execution, the 2016 Easton mako xl torq is a first-rate premium bat—for sure. The container size is monstrous by any guidelines and the stick is a genuine end load. In the event that a player will become acclimated with the turning nickname —or is accordingly as of now—and insufficiencies(or truly needs) an end-stacked execution bat then the Easton MAKO TORQ ought to be on the first spot on the list. On the off chance that they can do without the pivoting handle, we think there are more suited choices.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Why is a two-piece bat better?
A two-piece bat is generally considered better than a one-piece bat because it provides more flex and reduces vibrations upon contact with the ball. The two-piece design means that the bat has two separate components – the barrel and the handle – that are joined together. When the ball makes contact with the barrel, the handle flexes, which reduces the amount of shock that the hitter feels in their hands. This allows for a more comfortable swing and can prevent injuries such as hand and elbow discomfort. Additionally, the flex in the handle can help increase the bat speed and provide more power to the swing. Overall, a two-piece bat can provide better performance and reduce the risk of injury for the hitter.
2. Are all BBCOR bats 2 ⅝”?
It is correct that the barrel size of both USA and BBCOR bats can be 2 ⅝”. However, the weight-to-length ratio, or drop, can differ between the two types of bats. USA bats typically have a drop between -5 and -12, while BBCOR bats have a drop of -3. As you mentioned, at the Intermediate (50/70) Baseball and Junior League Baseball Divisions, both USA and BBCOR bats are allowed to be used.

Final Thought
As any virus ball could harm your bat, so I prescribe you not to utilize your best bat when rehearsing or playing in the chilly climate. Assuming utilize your #1 bat, ensure that the balls you are utilizing are not cold. In general, choose not to utilize your bat in a chilly climate whenever the situation allows. Yet, on the off chance that it is fundamental, center around the temperature of the ball instead of the bat. When it gets cold you have even more of a shot at breaking a composite bat or marking an aluminum one. In the event that you went outside in a 35-degree climate to swing, odds are you are likely going to gouge your bat. In any case, that is the reason, once more, with a spic and span costly bat, you won’t do that. Assuming a child needs to go out back and hit balls with his dad when it is 35 degrees, you do it with a piece of garbage bat. A great deal of times makers will put on the name not to utilize a bat under 60 degrees.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Would I be able to utilize my bat in a chilly climate?
Composite homerun sticks are never suggested for use when playing in temperatures that fall under 60 degrees. This is on the grounds that the exhibition issues and plausibility of breaking increments.
2. Could composite bats be put away in a chilly climate?
Could composite bats be put away in a chilly climate? The response to both is, it isn’t encouraged to utilize, or even store, composite bats in chilly climates or freezing conditions. Think about the significance of “composite,” and you get the synthesis of a thing from various materials.
3. For what reason is a composite bat better?
Since composite is a lighter material the barrel can be extended longer than an amalgam barrel bat without making the swing weight heavier. … Composite bats likewise will in general be better at separating sting or vibration in light of the fact that most composite bats have two-piece plans.
4. How do bats keep warm in chilly climates?
Assuming the temperature is too chilly, the bat province will freeze in the virus cold weather months. For the most part, this implies that they need to cuddle up under protection to get close to the warm side of a roof or divider.
5. Do homerun sticks truly matter?
The heavier the bat, the more force there will be the point at which it hits the ball, for a given speed. In reality, what makes a difference much more than the weight is Moment of Inertia (MOI). A higher MOI bat with the weight moved toward the barrel is designated “end stacked.” Wood bats are consistently end stacked on the grounds that the wood barrel is strong.
6. How does a bat Warmer respond?
An adaptable bat, particularly in a cool climate, permits a player to keep up with better hitting consistency. Hotness not just keeps the vibration out of the bat, it shields your aluminum bat from gouging and your composite bat from breaking or breaking the filaments within the bat because of cold temperatures
7. Do composite bats hit farther?
The plan behind the USA Bat Standard incidentally impacts composite bats a lot harder than aluminum. The primary explanation youth players swing composites is to hit the ball harder and further.
8. What sort of bat hits the farthest?

Farthest distance hit = 7.59 meters.
9. What amount of time does it require to break in a composite bat?
Breaking in your composite bat is fun, simple, and should be possible in regards to 60 minutes. To appropriately break in your composite bat, we suggest taking 150-200 swings playing delicate throw or off a tee utilizing genuine baseballs.

End-stacked bats have more weight at the end cap, more and have a generally higher swing weight, therefore. More adjusted bats have their weight conveyed all the more equitably and have a somewhat lower swing weight, therefore.

In 2018, when SSUSA launched their new senior softball, I saw it as a great chance to talk about two important characteristics of softballs: COR and Compression. One notable difference between the production of softballs and baseballs is their manufacturing process. Softballs have a diameter of approximately 12 inches, a circumference of about 3.8 inches, and a weight of around 7 ounces. They are made up of an inner polyurethane ball-core synthetic polymer, which is then covered with a stitched and glued cover. The cover can be made of leather or a composite material, unlike baseballs.
Softball COR & Compression
Softballs are assessed based on two measurements: COR (Coefficient Of Restitution) and Compression. COR measures the ball’s bounce. A higher COR indicates a more bouncy ball, which generally travels farther. COR represents the percentage of speed reduction for a ball bouncing off a wall. For instance, if a ball is thrown at a wall at 80 miles per hour and bounces off at 40 miles per hour, the speed has decreased significantly, and the ball would be rated with a COR of 0.50. If your association uses a 0.44 COR ball, the speed of bouncing off would be around 35 miles per hour.
Softball compression refers to the hardness of a softball. A higher compression level indicates a harder ball, which typically travels further. Compression is measured by the number of pounds of force required to compress different sides of the ball by a quarter of an inch. If a test shows that it takes 375 pounds of force to compress the ball by a quarter of an inch, the ball is rated as a 375-pound compression ball. The ASA (Amateur Softball Association) has approved two levels of compression – 375 pounds and 525 pounds, with 375-pound balls being softer than 525-pound ones. The ASA rounds up the pressure rating during testing. For instance, if a test shows that it only takes 325 pounds of force to achieve the quarter-inch compression, the ball will be rated as a 375 pressure ball. This means that your association may be playing with a ball rated as 375 pressure, but it is actually softer than a true 375 pressure ball due to the rounding up.
Testing has highlighted two main concerns regarding softball COR, pressure, and on-field performance. Firstly, switching from a .47 COR, 525 compression ball to a .44 COR, 375 compression ball can decrease performance by up to 6%. All other factors being equal, this means that hitting a 305-foot home run using a .47 COR, 525 compression ball would result in a 290-foot fly out using a .44 COR, 375 compression ball. Secondly, reductions in pressure have a significantly greater impact on on-field performance than reductions in COR.
As a player, it’s important to be aware of the impact of weather on the pressure of a softball. Research has revealed that at 100 degrees, a regular softball loses 200 pounds of pressure compared to a similar softball at 60 degrees. This means that a softball rated as a 525-pound pressure ball at 60 degrees may perform like a 375-pound ball at 100 degrees. Additionally, clouds, rain, and humidity also affect ball pressure. At 70 degrees and sunny, balls have lower pressure than if it were 70 degrees and cloudy. Leather balls tend to absorb more moisture in wet conditions than synthetic balls. This usually increases the pressure and level of play to some extent, but once the ball becomes too heavy from absorbing too much water, performance will decrease.
Keep these factors in mind when deciding which bat to use and determining your approach for each at-bat. If it’s hot and humid, it may be better to aim for a base hit rather than going for a home run.

Previously, the league used softballs with a .44 COR and 375 compressions, but in the fall of 2012, the rules were modified to allow the use of the new 52 300 softballs. This change had a significant impact on the ASA circuit, raising the important question of how to hit these softballs out of the park.
The newer 52 300 softball is a more exciting version compared to its predecessor. With a higher core value, it has increased elasticity and bounce, resulting in greater speed upon impact with a solid surface. The ASA League modified its standards to align with those of the USSSA League, which included changes to the testing and use of bats and balls. The goal was to make the ball more flexible than the bat, allowing for newer bats and batting techniques to be introduced. These changes brought about newer batting technology and tactics, resulting in an overall different league experience. Many agree that these changes have made ASA bats more effective, leading to more home runs. However, some wise advice on how to hit that 52 300 softball out of the park is always helpful.
Hitting a home run in softball is often overlooked, and it is more challenging than one might think. Unlike baseball, the ASA slowpitch softball has a slower pace, making it harder to hit a home run even if you are a powerful hitter. Even someone like Arnold Schwarzenegger would struggle to hit a softball as far as a baseball.
In softball, the key element to hitting the ball further is bat speed. The power of your swing does not determine the distance of the ball, but rather the speed of your swing. By increasing your swing speed, you can significantly increase the distance of your hits. Look for bats that are lightweight, aerodynamic, and offer minimal resistance, enabling you to have a lightning-fast swing. With such a bat, hitting the .52/300 ball for miles will be a piece of cake.
When swinging, keep your wrists free and free and your shoulders lose. Anticipate the ball’s appearance and afterward dispatch a swing, not from your lower back, but rather from your hips. This will give your swing the greatest energy for an expanded bat speed. Having an abundant hitting zone with an enormous perfect balance is an incredible advantage of the bat. Concerning hitting the 52 300 softballs, getting stature can be troublesome. To overcome this problem, hitting the ball with a slight uppercut can result in a powerful hit. The 2016 DeMarini Flipper OG, DeMarini Juggy OG, Louisville Slugger Super Z4000, and Easton Salvo are among the best ASA fastpitch bats available this year. These lightweight bats have minimal resistance for maximum swing speed and also feature large handles to provide extra power in swings.
Light and quick a thing to take care of when it’s with regards to how to hit the 52 300 softballs. Since the time the ASA League changed its guidelines to utilize the 52 300 balls, hitting grand slams has been on everyone’s psyches. These anxious balls do a ton of the work, thus with the right bats and the appropriate strategy, you can undoubtedly let fly on one of these softballs. As any great hitter will tell you, you need to coordinate with your swing’s pace and timing to get the best hit, however, maybe, this is considerably more significant in softball. An appropriately planned hit on the .52/300, with a quick swing energy, will send the ball taking off for a significant distance. Make certain to distinguish the perfect balance of your bat, and attempt to get your contact not long before the ball crosses the home plate. This will give the hit the most power and speed.
Conclusion
One way to address this issue is to hit the ball with a slight uppercut to generate a powerful hit. Some of the top ASA fastpitch bats for this year include the 2016 DeMarini Flipper OG, DeMarini Juggy OG, Louisville Slugger Super Z4000, and Easton Salvo. These bats are lightweight with minimal resistance, allowing for maximum swing speed. Additionally, they come with large handles to provide extra power in swings.
It’s important to understand that the ball’s compression rating is the key factor that determines the performance of senior bats. Additionally, the ball’s bounciness, also known as its Coefficient of Restitution or COR, is equally important. The 52 300 ball is a great match for senior bats since it provides exceptional performance while also prioritizing safety.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the most popular softball size?
The most popular softball size is the 12-inch ball, which is used for both fast-pitch and slow-pitch games.
